And You Lived, Happily Ever After
And You Lived, Happily Ever After
At the moon’s edge, a fairy so petite
Heard from a boat, a violin’s gentle treat
As slumber embraced her in a dream so deep,
She saw love’s path upon the ocean’s sweep…
(From the song of the book’s CD, Moonlit Path)
In this section, you will find several images from the book’s accompanying CD, titled “And you lived, happily ever after” are included. These images were born out of my encounter with the composer Giorgos Kagialikos. He shared with me that during the challenging summer of 2015, amidst the introduction of capital controls, he had composed seven songs, drawing inspiration from seven classic fairy tales. The composer took inspiration from Pinocchio, the Ugly Duckling, Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, Don Quixote, Cinderella, and the Emperor’s Nightingale in a fresh and innovative way.
Initially, he contemplated creating a CD with orchestrations of the songs. However, later on, he envisioned the development of a companion book illustrated by me, inspired by the fairy tale-themed songs. Listening to the songs performed theatrically by the mezzo-soprano Lilian Tsatsaroni, and accompanied by the orchestrations of talented musicians interpreting George’s compositions, I picked up brushes and colors and allowed myself to be swept away on a magical journey of creation through the fairy tales that I too, had cherished in the garden of my childhood years.
