For Zoe, painting equals meditation. A pathway to healing and the mystical transformation of both the external and internal reality.

I am a self-taught painter – illustrator, storyteller, author, philologist and psychodynamic color therapist. Through my actions, I bridge three sectors: education, art and therapy, with a focus on the therapeutic aspect and function of Art. With 30 years of working experience with children and more recently with adults in the realms of education, art and therapy (in the broad sense of caring, nurturing and serving humanity), I created Healing Art in Greece. Its primary tool is an innovative method I call “Therapeutic Journey – Psychodynamic Color Storytelling”.

Over the past few years, I’ve been passing on my experiential wisdom and knowledge, obtained through the wondrous journey of my life’s course by conducting original educational circles and seminars with a focus on psychodynamic creative expression and therapy through the art of storytelling and writing, as well as psychodynamic color therapy. I have participated in several group exhibitions in Greece and abroad, and I have illustrated all of my own books, as well as works by fellow authors. I have collaborated with significant publishers, including a well-known subsidiary of Hay House, as well as Onager Editions in New York.

My first solo exhibition was held in the atmospheric space of the Bathhouse of the Winds Museum in Athens.

One particularly intriguing exhibition I recently took part in was ‘Ariadne’s Thread’, organized by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre of Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies. Amid the pandemic, works of mine were selected for display at the International Painting Exhibition, Biennale Internazionale d’arte, in Bari, Italy, as well as by a renowned gallery in New York. I also participated with my artworks in the competition for the International Exhibition of Children’s Book Illustrators in Bologna.

A tribute to my painting took place in the Helmi’s Natural History Museum in the Greek island of Zakynthos and on December 2022 my painting “Travelling through the Gate of Inner Joy” was selected to represent a well-known program for the National Radio & Tv of Greece.

Now I am preparing to take part in Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava 2023 and in Pictoric International Art in Tijuana Triennial in Mexico. My third solo art exhibition with the title: “UNIVERSAL ARCHETYPES – SYMBOLS OF THE PSYCHE” took place in the gallery of Black Duck Multiplarte in Athens on February – March 2023.

I initially studied classical philology at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Athens and attended seminars related to pedagogy, psychology and art. I received training in Psychodynamic Color Therapy under the guidance of its founder, Mark Wentworth, and in shamanic healing, a field well studied by Alberto Villoldo, a Ph.D. professor of psychology and medical anthropology at San Francisco University. For nearly three decades, I worked with children as a philologist, as an educational guide and illustrator at the Museum of Greek Folk Art, and in educational programs involving art and storytelling performances. I have made a significant contribution to the field of storytelling, spanning from narrative performances across Greece, to seminars on the art of storytelling as a tool for both education and therapeutic self-discovery in Greece and Cyprus. Over the years, I’ve also conducted seminars on Creative Imagination and Empowerment, seminars on therapeutic storytelling, and experiential workshops for children and adults. I’ve engaged in interactive storytelling performances for cancer patients at a well-known oncological hospital. I authored and illustrated numerous books, written dozens of articles, delivered lectures at conferences, designed and implemented a television program titled «The Dreamtree of Fairytales».

I am a member of the The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) and the Women’s Literary Team. As an artist, I have collaborated with many significant institutions and organizations in Greece, such as the Athens Concert Hall, the Ministry of Culture, the Michalis Cacogiannis Foundation, the Ministry of Education, ActionAid Hellas, and more. I have also worked with authors internationally. For many years, I served as a museum educational guide and illustrator at the Museum of Modern Hellenism, where I designed and implemented educational programs for all age groups, as well as storytelling performances. Recently, I conducted a seminar on the healing effect and function of the Art of Storytelling for students in the Department of Early Childhood Education and Care at the University of Ioannina.
