Art Chose Me

Art chose me, not I who chose art. And I walk diligently upon her path while serving her with respect and dedication. Attentive to her ever-changing demands, mindful of her every word. A procedure that demands sacrifices and plenty of rejections to alluring worldly challenges and tempting distractions, for art is exacting and seeks exclusivity. When she extends her hand, there you must be, all willing to surrender yours into her grasp while trusting her wholeheartedly. Even through risking all daring decisions, abandon your safety zone and everything it entails. She will often request that you take a leap into the Abyss, to leap over the void without a safety net and head towards the Great Unknown, the Unspoken. You cannot betray her request, for that would mean betraying your own Soul. Fear and doubt cannot exist on this path, nor can fragility and compromise in material comforts, for she will never unveil her secret palace that way. If you manage to stand up to the trials of this journey that calls you over, it will reward you with celestial gifts and perhaps the greatest gift of all, to transform you into a living work of art, irrevocably entwined with magical tools and gifts possessing a dynamic that is possibly unique. The greatest challenge I have set for myself as an artist is to never betray that which has chosen me to serve it, namely, Art itself… and Art cannot be severed from the human being, especially from the innermost precept of the Soul. Art cannot serve materialism, nor can it stem from petty ambitions, self-serving egos, or the arrogance of the lower mind that is only interested in material gains. Art cannot emerge from obscurantism and unfreedom, for then, it is not Αrt. The primary function of Αrt, for me, is precisely this: Therapeutic.
